Become a Volunteer

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer for our department?

Hiring Process:

  • HFPD Application

  • Written exam

  • Physical agility test

  • EMS assessment

  • Oral board interview

  • Chief interview

  • Drug screen

  • Background & driving record check​


Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age prior to applying

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED

  • Completion of probationary period within one year of volunteer hire date

  • Completion of Department Driver/Operator Program within six months from completion of probationary period

  • Attend 75% of all required trainings and meetings during your probationary period

  • Attend Monthly Business Meetings

  • Obtain minimum of Firefighter I, EMT-Basic, Healthcare Provider CPR,  FEMA NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 within first 12 months if not already certified.
